CHILD  TUTORING

Volunteer Child Tutors make a difference!

Help a child succeed in school by becoming a child tutor at Literacy Green Bay. Tutors meet with at-risk or English Language Learner children at supervised sites.  They help the children strengthen their ability to read and write.  Many of the children are the children of adult learners in our English Language Learner classes.  The children are from kindergarten to 5th grade level.

Child Tutor Qualifications and Training

Volunteer Child Tutors attend a two-hour Training Workshop and are then assigned to help a particular child or to help at a particular site to work with whomever comes that day. Tutoring takes place during after-school hours during the school year.

Child Tutor Training Workshops are scheduled in January and late May. Additional workshops are scheduled at various times. Practical insights, hands-on suggestions for building confident and competent readers, and techniques for motivating success, are discussed.

For information about upcoming Child Tutor Training Workshops, call Teresa at 435-2474, ext. 18.
