The stars came out on
May 28 and 29 when Literacy Green Bay honored
its volunteer tutors and their learners at the
2009 Recognition Receptions.
The receptions premiered
the powerful PowerPoint movie "You're the Star,"
starring the tutors and students of Literacy
Green Bay.
Tutors were recognized
and thanked for the many achievements. Five
tutors were awarded
gold level honors, having amassed
over 1,000
hours of volunteer service as tutors: Carol
Crawford, Barb Pharris, Meredith Schmechel,
Clayton Smits, and Donna Trousil.
Four tutors were
recognized for achieving the
silver level --
500
hours of volunteer service as Literacy Green Bay
tutors: Jean Marie Birk, Kris Fry, Diane
Gorbette, and Eileen Shellman.

Eleven tutors were
honored for earning the
master level of
300 hours of
volunteer service as tutors: Margrit Barber,
Shawn Johnson, Norb Kalinosky, Steve Kimball, Jo
Kozloski, Denis L'Empereur, John McManus, Mary
McMullen, Libbie Miller, Carol Radosevich, and
Ann Sandstrom.

Forty tutors received
Senior Awards,
having accumulated 50
hours of volunteer service as Literacy Green Bay
tutors.
Learners were recognized
for a variety of academic and personal
achievements, including two students, Maria
Elizabeth Perez and Gloria Alcazar, who were
awarded citizenship scholarships from the Green
Bay Exchange Club.

read their winning essays on citizenship at the
Fire
on the Fox, Green Bay's 4th of July
celebration event.
