Child Tutoring
A Letter from the Board of Directors
After careful consideration by the Board of Directors and agency leadership of Literacy Green Bay, the very difficult decision was made to discontinue the Child Tutoring program as of August 10, 2017. Literacy Green Bay's Child Tutoring Program has been a valuable part of our programming for 17 years and we sincerely appreciate the support from the many teen volunteers, families, and staff who have been involved with the programming over the years.
Literacy Green Bay will continue providing early learning programming for families with young children within the family literacy model, such as the Children First Family Literacy program, a collaborative effort of NWTC and the YWCA, for parents working toward their GED; and ELEvate, a new initiative with the Green Bay Area Public Schools to provide family literacy programming to English Language Learner families within a Green Bay Area Public School building. Our current onsite childcare programming will transition to a family literacy model by 2019.
Literacy Green Bay will continue offering the same quality programming for adult learners with limited skills and English proficiency in alignment with our mission "to help adults and families acquire the reading, writing, math, English language, computer and workforce skills they need to function effectively as workers and community members."
Sincerely,
Literacy Green Bay Board of Directors and Executive Director Kathy Cornell
