WHAT IS THE COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS 1 COURSE?

This course, formerly known as GED® Prep 1, is a partnership between Literacy Green Bay and NWTC, and is designed to help learners fully develop the academic and digital literacy skills they will need to successfully transition into CCR2 and CCR3 coursework. The course is offered on Literacy Green Bay’s campus and students will attend a short orientation session there prior to enrollment. Trained adult tutors can provide additional support and onsite childcare is also available!

 

Summer 2023 Session

June 5th to August 2nd, 2023

Class times are: ​

Monday

9:00 am - 12 noon

OR...

Monday

5:15 - 8:15 pm

Students will attend class once a week for three hours. Classes are offered in-person at Literacy Green Bay and will incorporate reading, writing, and digital literacy instruction.

 

Orientation

STUDENTS WILL ATTEND AN ORIENTATION PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT INTO THE CCR1 CLASS.

ORIENTATION SESSIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE LITERACY GREEN BAY CAMPUS.

STUDENTS REFERRED FOR CCR1 WILL BE GIVEN THE OPTION TO ATTEND ORIENTATION ON EITHER MONDAY OR WEDNESDAY. ONCE A REFERRAL HAS BEEN MADE BY NWTC’S ABE NAVIGATOR, THE ORIENTATION COORDINATOR AT LITERACY GREEN BAY WILL FOLLOW UP WITH STUDENTS TO SCHEDULE A DATE AND TIME FOR ORIENTATION THAT WORKS BEST FOR THEM.

Orientation Includes:

Completion of required intake paperwork

Overview & tour of Literacy Green Bay campus

Help with set-up of ixl.com software program

Overview of class policies & attendance expectations

Study strategies for success!
