Updates are posted on an on-going basis

  • If you are using the Challenger curriculum with your student, please know that it is slowly being replaced with new curriculum called "journey."  Also, there is a writing supplement for Challenger that was in our library that is now available for purchase. The cost is only $5.00. Any staff person can show you and help with the purchase.

  • Update on Sister's Study Rooms

  • We have 3 rooms that can accommodate two pairs each.​

If the three rooms are full for some reason, tutors can use the TABE testing room if there are no tests in process or scheduled. 

  • Please refrain from using either of the two classrooms on the 2nd floor, even if they are not in use. Teachers, staff, and others require access at any given time.

  • We are aware that the sound proofing is not the best in these rooms. We are investigating the cost to try some wall soundproofing and/or sound machines. Thank you for your patience!

  • We have found Monday nights are very busy. Please be considerate of space and lack of soundproofing during high tutoring times.

  • Effective Monday, January 23, the hours of operation for the 2nd floor (including tutoring hours) are as follows:

Mondays 8:30am-8:00pm​

Tuesdays 8:30am-7:00pm

Wednesdays 8:30am-8:00pm

Thursdays 8:30am-7:00pm

Fridays 8:30-noon

  • The website is also undergoing a change. All information, links, and resources can be found by going to the PROGAMS tab and clicking on Adult Tutoring. This will be the landing page for all things related to adult tutoring. The main content is there, but do know that additional enhancement will be forthcoming as time allows.

  • WIFI update-The wireless account to connect to is "LGB Wireless." The password is "Literacy13."

  • Two bulletin boards have been hung in the hallway of the tutoring wing. If you meet here on site, please make note of any useful announcements and handouts as they occur. One board is student focused and the other is tutor focused. For those who meet off site, this page will include said announcements or handouts, as well.

  • For those that meet off site, we do have a supply of 2x2 laminated  cards that have our logo with the language, "Tutoring Pair" that may be useful when tutoring at sites such as the YWCA, libraries, or other public places. 

​​
